East Aceh Kejari Receives Payment Of IDR 1 Billion Fine From Drug Convicts

BANDA ACEH - The East Aceh District Attorney (Kejari) received a fine of Rp. 1 billion from a criminal drug type named Abdullah alias Dullah bin Zakaria (36), a resident of BR Puntong, Langsa Baro District, Langsa City, Aceh.

"The convict paid a fine of Rp. 1 billion for the verdict handed down by the panel of judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia on August 29, 2016. The fine was handed down on a case of 78 kilograms of methamphetamine," said Head of the East Aceh District Attorney Lukman Hakim in Idi Rayeuk, reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.

Lukman said the panel of judges at the Supreme Court in the cassation decision sentenced Abdullah to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion.

"The handover of the fine money will take place at the Class IIB Banda Aceh Detention Center. If the fine is not paid, the convict will serve a subsidiary sentence of six months in prison," said Lukman.

Previously, Abdullah was arrested by personnel from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) along with three other people, namely Hamdani, Samsul Bahri, and Hasan Basri, in February 2015 for possession of more than 78 kilograms of methamphetamine.

At the trial at the Banda Aceh District Court, Abdullah and three other defendants were sentenced to death. Then they filed an appeal, but rejected by the Banda Aceh High Court.

Then they made an appeal to the Supreme Court, and the panel of judges sentenced Abdullah to 20 years in prison. Meanwhile, the convict Hamdani, Samsul Bahridan Hasan Basri, was still sentenced to death.
