Ship Carrying Fuel Sinks In Timika, 2 Missing Crew Members Have Not Been Found

The Timika SAR Team searched for two crew members (ABK) missing from the incident of the New Spirit Motor Ship (KM) that sank in the waters of Pururi.

Head of the Timika SAR Office, George LM Randang, said KM Semangat Baru, which contains fuel oil (BBM) to be taken to Agats, Asmat Regency, drowned after experiencing a leak.

"There are six new KM crew members, four people were found but two other people whose fate and whereabouts are not yet known," he said in a written statement, Monday, August 28, which was confiscated by Antara.

This was discovered after the Timika SAR team evacuated four survivors after receiving a report about the incident experienced by KM Semangat Baru on Monday, August 28 at around 02.00 WIT.

According to George, the four surviving crew members were found adrift using buoys in the waters of Pururi.

He said the search for the two missing crew members today has not yielded results. The search using RIB 400 PK will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, August 28 at 06.00 WIT in the area according to the SARMAP Prediction sent by the Basarnas Command Center.

The four crew members of KM Semangat Baru who survived were Junaidi (35), Husein (29), Edi Rusdianto (37) and Johan (27). "Meanwhile, Herman (40/L) and Nando (36/L) are still being searched," said George.
