3 People Become Suspects Of Online Fraud, The Mode Of Sending Fake Transfer Evidence

Jambi Police have named three suspects for online fraud by sending evidence of fake transfers to victims.

Head of Sub-Directorate V Cyber Ditreskrimsus Jambi Police AKBP Andi Purwanto said the perpetrators had been arrested by the police on Saturday (26/8) in the early hours of the morning at two locations in Jambi City.

"We arrested eight people in the operation and named three suspects," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.

The suspect's mode of contacting the victim pretended to buy or rent a shophouse. From there, there was a negotiation between the suspect and the victim.

Then the suspect pretended to pay the finished sign by sending the identity sign to the victim.

"This is where the perpetrator's modus operandi, he told the victim that the money transferred was excessive, so he asked the victim to transfer back the excess money," he also said.

After the victim sent back the excess money to the suspect, the victim only realized that no money had entered his account. The victim's loss reached Rp. 25 million.

After going through intensive examinations and case titles, the police named three suspects with the initials R as the mastermind of the fraud. Then AD played a role in contacting the victim and making fake transfer receipts and the third was AV who was in charge of taking the money from the fraud at the ATM.

The three suspects are subject to Article 28 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph 1 and/or Article 35 Jo. Article 51 paragraph 1 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 1 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions and Article 378 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code paragraph 1 KHUPidanajo Article 56 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

From the disclosure of this case, the police confiscated a number of evidences, namely 35 cellphones, an ATM card, cash worth Rp. 18.1 million, savings books, 16 simcards, BPKB and motor vehicle STNK and others.
