PALU - The Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) confiscated more than IDR 2 billion in the case of alleged corruption of the International Publication and Collaborative Center (IPCC) of Tadulako University (Untad) as part of case development.

"The purpose of the confiscation is if there is a calculation of state losses, the assets will be used as collateral to be auctioned off to compensate for state financial losses," said Head of the Central Sulawesi Attorney General's Office, Abdul Haris, in Palu, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.

These assets are immovable items in the form of land worth approximately Rp. 1.6 billion and buildings worth Rp. 500 million which are taken from witnesses who are considered responsible for the management process.

"If the confiscation permit has been issued, then we will immediately install a confiscation bar," he said.

In addition to confiscating assets, investigators from the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office have also confiscated dozens of electronic goods based on the Confiscation Order Number: Print-42/P.2.5/Fd.1/07/2023 dated July 24, 2023.

A number of the confiscated gadgets were four units of MacBook Air, four units of iPad Pro 11, four units of Apple's Ipad Magic Keyboard, one unit of 13 inches MacBook Air, one unit of the Apple Iphone 12 Pro Max 256 GB Gold cell phone.

"We are still looking for more, what assets can be taken will be taken, who knows the state's financial losses are more than expected," said Haris.

He hoped that the public would be patient in waiting for the legal process that was being carried out by the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office, because currently it is still in the stage of calculating the loss, it is considered that it will take sufficient time.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the determination of the suspect in the alleged corruption case of IPCC Untad worth IDR 1.7 billion could only be carried out after calculating state financial losses.

"There are already potential suspects. What is clear is that there is more than one name. But we cannot convey it yet," he said.
