Vice President Encourages Sharia Health Industry Development In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin expressed his support for the development of the sharia-based health industry.

This was said by the Vice President when giving an online speech to The 5th International Islamic Healthcare Conference And Expo (IHEX) 2023 in Jakarta, Friday, August 25.

"Health services according to Islamic principles are increasingly needed. For this reason, the government continues to encourage the development of the Islamic health industry in Indonesia," he said, quoted by Antara.

At the seminar organized by the All-Indonesian Islamic Health Efforts Council (MUKISI), the Vice President reminded that in building halal health services, stakeholders must also focus on developing their ecosystem.

"This development does not only cover sharia hospitals, but also sharia health care ecosystems, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food and halal drinks," he said.

The Vice President also emphasized that the Islamic health industry must be equipped with supporting services that also prioritize sharia values, such as human resources with sharia competencies, Islamic financial financing, and other supporting services with halal standards.

On this occasion, the Vice President appreciated the role of MUKISI which has encouraged the stipulation of 31 hospitals with sharia status, and as many as 72 Islamic hospitals committed to sharia compliance and hoped to be adopted by other Islamic hospitals.

"This achievement should continue to be accelerated, in order to reach all members of the MUKISI, which currently has around 500 Islamic hospitals and spread throughout Indonesia," he said.

In particular, the Vice President asked the MUKISI to continue to be consistent and sustainable in providing education and literacy on sharia health services for the community.

"In the future, I ask MUKISI to consistently carry out socialization and education, encourage increased public literacy and awareness about sharia health services, and expand collaboration to further strengthen the national sharia health ecosystem," said the Vice President.

The Vice President also welcomed the momentum of the IHEX 2023 which coincided with the Launch of the First Sharia Clinic and Laboratory in Indonesia.

According to him, the breakthrough was in response to the increasing interest and community needs to get health services according to sharia.

He hopes that the sharia clinic and laboratory can provide fast, easy, quality service and in accordance with sharia principles.

Meanwhile, the Head of the MUKISI Masyhudi AM said that previously the MUKISI focused on reviving Islamic hospitals in Indonesia with a certification process, but currently the focus of MUKISI's work is on building a national sharia health ecosystem.

Present at the event were the management of the MUI National Sharia Board and the MUISI Regional Management throughout Indonesia.
