JAKARTA - Naval and military intelligence Ukraine carried out a "special operation" on Wednesday night, with troops successfully landing in Russia's occupied Crimea, the Ukraine Ministry of Defense's Main Intelligence (HUR) said.

The operation is a rare demonstration, in which Ukrainian troops were capable of carrying out landing operations in Crimea, which Russia captured and annexed in 2014.

Short and dark video footage posted in conjunction with the statement shows a small motorboat moving through water at night near the coastline.

HUR said the motorboat landing point was at the western tip of Crimea, near Olenivka and Mayak settlements.

"The special unit on the boat landed on the beach in the residential area of Olenivka and Mayak," HUR said in a statement.

It said, "all goals" had been achieved and the casualties were only on the enemy's side, without explaining further the purpose in question.

"Also, the country's flag is flying again in Ukraine's Crimea," he said, though without saying where to be precise or providing further details.

Russia did not comment on the report, which coincided with Ukraine's Independence Day.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian military intelligence also reported deliberately 'binding' a Russian military pilot to land his Mi-8 helicopter on Ukraine's airfield.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday vowed to end Moscow's occupation of Crimea, although Russia shows no sign of leaving the peninsula.
