Tomorrow, PDIP Secretary General Announces Sanctions For Budiman Sudjatmiko

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said the party announced sanctions against one of its cadres, Budiman Sudjatmiko, Monday, August 21, because he announced that he would openly support the presidential candidate from another party, Prabowo Subianto.

"Later, Pak Komarudin will announce, what is clear is that the party will not tolerate disciplinary action from every party cadre. The party will take firm action. The option is to resign or accept dismissal sanctions," said Hasto Kristiyanto on the sidelines of the Regional Working Meeting (Rakerda) III of the East Kalimantan PDIP DPD in Balikpapan, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 20.

Komarudin Watubun is the Chair of the PDI-P Honorary DPP.

Hasto, on the same occasion, as conveyed in a written broadcast received in Jakarta, explained that the PDI-P always prioritizes political ethics, especially when recruiting its cadres.

He said that every PDIP cadre decided to join because of the basis of volunteerism, not because of the lure of other parties.

Apart from Budiman's steps, Hasto believes that the PDI-P will be more solid in carrying Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate. Ganjar is currently also supported by PPP, Perindo, and Hanura.

"Those steps will actually produce a positive energy for the movement of all PDI-P cadres," said Hasto.

Budiman Sudjatmiko announced his support for Prabowo Subianto at the United Prabowo-Budiman (Prabu) volunteer event in Semarang, Central Java, Friday, August 18. Budiman announced that while he was still a PDI-P cadre, Prabowo was a presidential candidate promoted by Gerindra, PKB, Golkar, PAN, and the Crescent Star Party (PBB).

The parties supporting Prabowo are members of the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR).

Budiman before announcing his support met with Prabowo in Kertanegara, Jakarta, on July 18, 2023. After the meeting, Prabowo and Budiman admitted that they had the same perspective on various national problems.

A few days after the meeting, PDIP summoned Budiman to provide clarification on his meeting with Prabowo. The chairman of the PDI-P DPP for Honorary Affairs Komarudin Watubun after the examination in Jakarta on July 28, 2023, said that the party did not impose sanctions and only warned Budiman.
