JAKARTA - Russia is again showing off its advantages in the field of drone technology, by presenting a foldable and planned reconnaissance drone piloted on the battlefield.

Grom's folding drone, designed to spy on targets and then drop ammunition, was officially launched at the Army 2023 international arms show, Vitaly Dolgov, head of the UAV External Trial and Operations Laboratory at the Kartsev Computer System Research Institute.

"This is a new vehicle and we demonstrated it for the first time. Grom is a foldable foldable drone. This vehicle can be folded with just a few moves and easily put in a backpack," Dolgov explained to TASS as quoted August 18.

"The damage and demolition take five minutes. This air vehicle weighs only 4 kg without combat cargo. It is also distinguished by the low cost. The price is not disclosed for now, but it is quite low," continued Dolgov.

Dolgov added that this latest reconnaissance drone is expected to be tested in the special military operations zone in Ukraine.

Grom has a flight durability of 40 minutes and can carry a maximum payload of 4 kg. Dolgov said this unmanned aircraft can operate within 12 km and travel at a speed of 60 km/hour.

It is known that the international military technical forum of the 2023 Army took place at the Patriot Exhibition and Congress Center, the Alabino training ground, and the Kubinka airfield outside Moscow on August 14-20.
