Japanese Citizen Dies Falling While Playing Flying Fish In Tanjung Benoa Bali

DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police said one Japanese citizen who fell while playing riding fish in the Tanjung Benoa water game tourist area, Badung, Bali, was declared dead.

Head of the Public Relations Division of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that the Japanese citizen who died was Kikuchi Satoshi (60) while his son Kikuchi Haruki (15) who was involved in the ride suffered minor injuries on the left temple.

According to Jansen's statement, the incident occurred on Friday (18/8) at around 10:00 WITA in Tanjung Benoa, precisely in front of the Tanjung Benoa Grand Mirrage Environmental Hotel Beach, South Kuta District, Badung, Bali.

"At that time the two victims were flying fish, suddenly released and fell into the sea in a prone position and were unconscious," Jansen said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 18.

The former Denpasar Police Chief said the two victims were foreigners from Japan who were on vacation in Bali along with three other people and staying at a hotel in Kuta, Badung.

Jansen explained that on Friday (18/8) before 10:00 WITA, a family of Japanese foreigners consisting of five people were flying fish at Water Sport Bali Coral, Tanjung Benoa, Bali.

During the first session, according to witness Zaini, who was a speedboat driver with Wahyu, the instructor, they departed to drive the boat to pull the flying fish with two of the victim's children for five minutes and managed to land safely.

Then, then in the second session, the boat driver pulled the flying fish which brought two Japanese foreigners, father and son and the instructor.

"After about 40 meters from the beach, suddenly, the fishing fishleng and tilted to the right, then the instructor fell and was followed by the two victims of Japanese foreigners. The two victims fell off the handle and fell about three meters from above (the surface) of the water," said Jansen.

After the accident, several staff tried to pull the victim out of the water. After reaching the two victims, the staff took them to the beach. The staff also provided initial help by pumping the victim's chest, but the victim remained unconscious.

The victim was rushed to the hospital by using an ambulance to the Surya Husada Hospital, Nusa Dua, Badung for further treatment.

Arriving at Surya Husada Hospital, the medical team tried to provide assistance to the victim, but the victim KS could not be saved and was declared dead.

Currently, the victim's body is being deposited at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Bali awaiting further processing.

Until this news was published, the main cause of the Japanese foreigner's death was not yet known.

Jansen said that currently the ranks of the Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the Bali Police are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the accident that caused the death of the foreigner.

Meanwhile, the Bali Police's Ditintelkam is coordinating with the Japanese Consulate to take care of the legal process and also the presence of the victim's body.
