Biden: Indonesia-US Strategic Partnership Promotes Democratic Principles

JAKARTA - President of the United States (US) Joe Biden stated that the strategic partnership between the US and Indonesia advances the principle of democracy which is both adopted by the two countries.

"The strategic partnership between the United States and Indonesia advances the principles of democracy, which we both engage in and the security and prosperity of our people," Biden said in a message delivered to President Joko Widodo through the US Embassy in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 16.

Biden supports joint efforts with Indonesia to create a bright and resilient future in a free and open Indo-Pacific.

Biden invites Indonesia to work together in overcoming global challenges such as climate change and environmental protection. He also encourages strengthening relations between communities that underlie joint partnerships.

The US also praised Indonesia's leadership as Chair of ASEAN and supported the theme ASEAN 2023, ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth.

Biden hopes that the cooperation between the two countries can be further deepened and expanded in the years to come and congratulate them on the commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

"Congratulations on Indonesia's encouraging independence day," said Biden.
