Bareskrim Increases Panji Gumilang Money Laundering Case To Investigation

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri has completed the title of the alleged money laundering case (TPPU) Panji Gumilang. As a result, the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.

"The results of the case title are mutually agreed that sufficient preliminary evidence has been found to increase the investigation into an investigation," said the Director of Special Economic Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan, Wednesday, August 16.

In a case involving the Investigation Supervision Bureau (Rowassidik) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, the Police Legal Division, the General Supervision Inspectorate, and the National Police Propam Division, as well as experts, it was found that there were several criminal acts of origin (TPA).

Whisnu said that three TPAs were found, namely embezzlement, criminal acts of foundations, and corruption in School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds.

"The first is money laundering with criminal acts from the foundation and criminal acts of embezzlement," he said.

"Second, it was decided in the case title, the case file for corruption of the boss's funds which became the second file," continued Whisnu.

With the findings of the three TPAs, Panji Gumilang is suspected of violating Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2020 concerning the Crime of Money Laundering which carries a sentence of 20 years.

Then, the Criminal Code of the Article 70 junto Foundation Article 5 of Law number 28 of 2004 concerning amendments to Law Number 16 of 2021. The penalty is 5 years in prison

The crime of embezzlement of Article 372 of the Criminal Code carries a penalty of 8 years in prison and a criminal act of corruption Article 2 of Law Number 20 of 2021 with a threat of 20 years in prison.
