PDIP Denies Ganjar's Arrival To Gus Dur's Family To Explore The Vice Presidential Candidate

PDIP Deputy Chairperson Ahmad Basarah denied the arrival of PDIP presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo to the residence of the wife and son of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Sinta Nuriyah and Yenny Wahid, in Ciganjur, South Jakarta in the context of exploring vice presidential candidates (cawapres). According to Basarah, the meeting between Ganjar and Gus Dur's family was not a cultural meeting to ask for support, especially the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). "Regarding the meeting of Mas Ganjar with Mrs. Sinta Nuriyah Abdurrahman Wahid, who was also accompanied by Ms. Yenny, it was a cultural meeting that Mas Ganjar was also familiar with Gus Dur's family," said Basarah at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, August 14. Basarah said that Ganjar was a figure who admired Gus Dur and his thoughts. Where Gus Dur's thoughts are often used as references to state agendas. "I think it is a cultural event that is very likely to occur between two religious nationalist figures such as Mr. Ganjar Pranowo and important NU figures such as Mrs. Hj. Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, Abdurahman Wahid and Yenny Wahid," he said. It is known that the presidential candidate from PDIP Ganjar Pranowo will visit the wives and children of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Sinta Nuriyah and Yenny Wahid, at their residence in Ciganjur, South Jakarta, Sunday, August 13. Ganjar explained that his arrival was deliberately carried out as a form of sowan from students to the admired wife of the cleric.

"With the hope that I can get prayers, support and diplomas, so that my struggle as a student, thank God, is believed to be a presidential candidate, can remain in line with Gus Dur's ideas," explained Ganjar in a written statement. "It can be ma'tsur or connect the situation. Because, I believe that even the state needs a good situation. And, praying to Gus Dur is certainly part of the best path.
