Join KKIR, PAN Proposes Coalition Name To Be Changed To Be Shorter

After officially joining the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) made by Gerindra and PKB together with Golkar, PAN proposed that the name of the coalition of parties carrying Prabowo Subianto forward for the 2024 presidential candidate be changed to a shorter one.

The chairman of the PAN faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, assessed that changing the name of the coalition needs to be reformulated by Prabowo's supporting parties in order to be in line with the government's work if they later win in the 2024 election. "If we, the name of the coalition, can be formulated again. The name needs to be made brief, simple, and easy to remember by the community," said Saleh, Monday, August 14. "If later elected, it is also easy to be reminded that the government's work is in accordance with the name of the coalition," he continued. The chairman of the PAN DPP also gave several alternatives. First, the name of the coalition must combine the names of the existing coalitions. Second, make new names that represent the supporting parties and the vision of the presidential candidates' mission. "However, whatever the name is not a problem, the important thing is how to move and revive the political machinery for Prabowo's victory," he said. Previously, Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto and PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan officially declared support to Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election. The two parties together conveyed to the public at the Proclamation, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday, August 13.

Airlangga said his party supported Prabowo because the Minister of Defense had been a Golkar cadre before establishing the Gerindra Party. Meanwhile, PAN supports it because of the long-standing cooperation.

It is known, PAN also supports Prabowo in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections. "We have been together with Pak Prabowo for 10 years. If you stay a little, why can't you wait? We are sure that the 10-year struggle will be over," said Zulkifli after declaring support.
