JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is currently investigating an online loan case that occurred during the UIN Cultural Festival Raden Mas Said Surakarta, Central Java.

Head of the Department of Literacy, Financial Inclusion and OJK Communications Aman Santosa said that the OJK asked for an explanation from a number of parties regarding the request for online loan registration in the festival activities involving financial service business actors (PUJK) who are licensed and registered with the OJK.

"OJK has summoned related parties in this case, namely the university, in this case the Chancellor and Dema UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta and PUJK, to ask for information regarding the problems that occurred," Aman said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, August 13.

During the meeting, the Student Executive Board (Dema) of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta admitted that they had raised funds with sponsorship cooperation to three entities through third parties, including PUJK, which was licensed and registered with the OJK.

From this sponsorship collaboration, it was acknowledged that Dema UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta asked new students to download the application and register.

From the initial information, these parties still have discrepancies so they have not been able to reveal the actual facts, so OJK will still summon several other related parties to investigate this problem, including the alleged involvement of PUJK in the cooperation program for the Cultural Festival activities.

"OJK has also asked Dema UIN Raden Mas Surakarta and PUJK to submit information and other supporting documents to clarify this case," said Aman.

Furthermore, Aman explained that the OJK will continue to monitor this case and take strict steps to monitor and take firm action if it is proven that PUJK is involved and violates consumer protection provisions, especially in the absence of offers that meet the needs and capabilities of prospective consumers or PUJK procedures in marketing financial and security products and confidentiality of consumer personal data.

OJK also always asks PUJK to always comply with the principles of Consumer and Community Protection in the financial services sector and carry out obligations as stipulated in Law Number 4 of 2023 and OJK Regulation Number 6/POJK.07/2022 which has been in effect to protect consumer and public interests.

"OJK also asks the public to increase understanding in using the financial products and services offered by PUJK, including data terms and conditions and security," he said.
