8 Firefighters Deployed To The Burning Area Of PT PGE Aceh

ACEH BANDA - A total of eight fire engines (damkar) were deployed to extinguish the fire that burned grass in the Cluster 1 area of PT Pemap Global Energy (PGE) in Keude Aron Village, Syamtalira Aron District, North Aceh Regency.

Lhokseumawe City Fire Team Commander, Ridwan, said the eight fire engines belonged to the Lhokseumawe City Government (Pemkot), the North Aceh Regency Government (Pemkab), PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM), and PT PGE.

"The fire has been extinguished, but we are still on standby at the location to ensure the fire has been completely extinguished. Luckily the fire has not yet reached the dangerous area, but the pipes were also hit by the fire. We don't know what caused the fire," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 12.

Residents of Keude Aron Razali Village said the fire occurred on Saturday (12/8) at around 12.00 WIB. The fire broke out when officers at the company cut grass in the Cluster 1 PGE area.

"This incident had made local residents panic," said Razali.

According to Razali, the fire was allegedly due to negligence in the officers burning grass. The fire spread very quickly due to hot weather and strong winds during the day.

"We don't know the cause of the fire yet, but it is suspected that it was caused by officers burning grass or throwing cigarette butts," he said.

Meanwhile, PGE Bustami's External Relations Manager said the dried grass inside the PGE Cluster 1 area caught fire due to the recent hot weather in the region.

"The conditions are still very under control and the fire team is currently trying to extinguish the fire," he said.
