Jokowi Appoints Mahfud MD And Muhadjir Effendy As Chair Of The TIP Task Force

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD as Chairman I and Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy as Chair II in the Task Force for Prevention and Handling of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO).

This is regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 49 of 2023 concerning the second amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 69 of 2008 concerning the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO), a copy of which was uploaded on jdih.setneg.go.id and monitored in Jakarta, Friday 11 August.

In the latest Presidential Decree regarding structural officials in the TIP Task Force, President Jokowi also appointed the Daily Chair of the Central Task Force as National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Meanwhile, members of the Central Task Force are ministers and heads of state institutions, including the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Finance and others.

Then, President Jokowi also formed the Secretariat of the Task Force which is located within the National Police and determined by the National Police Chief. The Secretariat will be led by the Head of the Secretariat.

"The Head of the Secretariat who is functionally responsible to the Central Task Force and administratively responsible to the Chief of State Police of the Republic of Indonesia," wrote Presidential Decree No 49/2023.

The Presidential Decree was signed by President Jokowi on August 10, 2023, and promulgated on the same date.

Presidential Decree 49/2023 is the second amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 69 of 2008 concerning the TIP Prevention and Handling Task Force. The first amendment to Presidential Decree Number 69 of 2008 is Presidential Regulation Number 22 of 2021 which was signed on April 1, 2023.

In Presidential Regulation 22/2021, it is regulated that Chairman I of the Central Task Force TPPO is the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, namely Muhadjir Effendy, while Chairman II of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is Mahfud MD. The Daily Chairperson regulated in Presidential Regulation 22/2021 is the Minister for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.
