PONOROGO - A martial school in Ponorogo Regency, East Java, Thursday, has gradually begun dismantling their college identity monuments which were built in several residential areas and border areas of villages and cities.

The demolition ceremony was started by two martial arts schools, namely the Indonesian Men's Silat Family Association (IKSPI) "Kera Sakti" and the "Bangau Putih" Silat College.

The demolition ceremony was witnessed directly by the Regent of Ponorogo Sugiri Sancoko together with the Ponorogo Police Chief AKBP Womboko and Dandim 0802/Ponogo Lt. Col. Inf. Hirta Juni Adriansyah.

"I thank the (selat) college for voluntarily dismantling the pencak silat monument, in accordance with the instructions of the East Java Police Chief," said Sugiri Sancoko as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

Currently, in Ponorogo there are already two monuments that have been demolished.

The first is the white crane and IKSPI "Kera Sakti" college.

"Hopefully this will serve as an example for other universities, in fact if the monument is dismantled it will not lose the dignity of the silat college. Marwah is always there," he said.

Ponorogo Police Chief AKBP Wimboko said that currently there are 578 pencak silat monuments in Ponorogo.

Of that number, 300 more stand on government-owned land, therefore his party appealed to the silat college to dismantle their monument.

"We don't want to be divided, everything is the same, all the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, so that it gets along well," he said.
