Opening New Investigations At Basarnas, KPK Investigate Allegations Of Corruption In The Procurement Of Personnel Transport Trucks

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has opened a new investigation at the National SAR Agency (Basarnas). They are currently investigating allegations of corruption in the procurement of trucks transporting personnel in 2014.

"We are currently conducting an investigation into the procurement of goods and services in the Basarnas environment in 2012-2018, namely the procurement of trucks for personnel transportation in 2014," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 10.

Currently, the collection of evidence is still being carried out. Investigators will examine witnesses.

"The reason is about state losses, of course, because it was related to the procurement of goods and services," he said.

Ali has not yet specified who the suspects are in this case. However, he confirmed that they were civilians, not the TNI, such as the Head of Basarnas Marshal Henri Alfiandi and Koorsmin Kabasarnas Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto.

This investigation is also not the aftermath of the hand arrest operation (OTT) that ensnared the two active soldiers. "In time, when the investigation process is sufficient, we will certainly announce the parties named the suspects," said Ali.

"The suspects that we have determined are from civilians, of course state administrators and the private sector," he concluded.
