JAKARTA - One of the initiators of the Murder Incident Team (TP3), Marwan Batubara, urged the Head of Metro Jaya Police, Inspector General Fadil Imran to be removed from his position.

This is because the team formed by Amien Rais and a number of other figures felt that the police had completed the investigation of the shooting of six FPI troops on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.

"TP3 urges the President of the Republic of Indonesia to order the Chief of Police to dismiss the Head of Metro Jaya Police, Inspector General Fadil Imran as a member of the National Police so that the legal process for the murder of 6 FPI troops can be carried out objectively and fairly," Marwan said in a virtual press conference, Monday, February 1.

Apart from that, Marwan also urged members of the DPR RI to investigate directly by forming a special committee or Pansus. This is because they suspect that there is a political push from the shooting incident.

"We urge the DPR to investigate the murder and massacre of 6 FPI laskar which is strongly suspected of not being just an ordinary murder, but related to issues of political power," he said.

Furthermore, Marwan believed that there was no shootout between the police and the six FPI troops during the clash on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.

"Based on the testimony of FPI officials, the FPI paramilitary troops do not have weapons, have never carried out attacks and thus a shootout is impossible," he said.

FPI's admission about the soldiers being not equipped with weapons is inversely proportional to the results of the investigation by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) and the police investigation.

Therefore, Marwan admitted that his party did not trust the results of the investigation by Komnas HAM and the police.

"The process of investigating the murder of 6 FPI laskar is still far from expectations and in fact tends to contradict the objective conditions and facts on the ground. Both the National Police and the National Human Rights Commission have provided investigation reports that can be deemed to lead to misleading opinions and cover up the true incident," he said.
