The Bima District Prosecutor's Office is handling a case of alleged embezzlement of deposits from customers of the West Nusa Tenggara People's Credit Company (PD BPR NTB) in Sape District.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Bima Kejari Andi Sudirman said this case had entered the investigation stage by naming a suspect with the initials AR.

"The person concerned is now a former BPR employee who previously served as a deposit recipient," Andi said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.

Apart from AR, he continued, there are additional suspects who are still in the effort to summon prosecutors to be present to fulfill the examination agenda.

The additional suspect has the initials IS who is a former fund and credit staff at PD BPR NTB.

The whereabouts of the person concerned were revealed abroad. Andi also assured that his party had sent a third summons to IS to be able to fulfill the examination agenda.

"Call him in writing through the family, through the local government as well," he said.

Two suspects in this case are suspected of being involved in embezzlement of customer deposits, both in the form of savings, deposits, and credit.

The suspect's mode of embezzlement is by taking customer deposits without recording in the bookkeeping document. Deposit money was also enjoyed by the two suspects.

To cover this mode, the two suspects submitted proof of original deposit from PD BPR NTB to customers.

The mode was revealed to have been running in the 2018 period with a loss of Rp. 1 billion. The prosecutor's office has also handled this case since 2019.
