Bring The Name Soekarno, Megawati: All National Threats Can Be Addressed If PDIP And NU Go Together

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri claims that her party and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) always go hand in hand. According to him, this could not be separated from the closeness between Soekarno and NU.

As the daughter of the proclaimer of Indonesian independence and chairman of the PDI-P, Megawati confirmed that she would continue to be close to Bung Karno and several NU founders, such as Kiai Haji Hasyim Asy'ari and Kiai Haji Abdul Wahab Hasbullah, as well as all nahdliyin residents.

"Bung Karno's closeness to the kiai and nahdliyin residents I will continue in action and I have mandated it with all the nationalists as well as PDI Perjuangan cadres and sympathizers," Megawati said at the 95th NU Harlah Commemoration Activity, Sunday, January 31.

Megawati admitted that she never forgot how the great support of the nahdliyin people for Bung Karno's leadership by giving the title, namely Waliyul Amri Addharuri Bi As Syaukah, which was ratified at the NU Congress in Surabaya in 1954.

In addition, Megawati believes, if PDIP and NU can continue to go hand in hand, then all national threats to Indonesia can certainly be overcome.

"I am sure if PDIP can go hand in hand with NU, then all threats to nationality can be overcome," he said.

Not to forget, Megawati also said happy birthdays for the 95th NU which is celebrated every January 30.

"I congratulate you at the age of 95, of course by showing how mature an organization is with the attitude and struggle of an organization called Nahdlatul Ulama," he said.
