Papua New Guinea Residents Arrested By Papuan Police Drug Buser When Bringing 9 Kg Cannabis With Avanza Car

Papuan Police arrested a Papua New Guinea citizen on suspicion of drug abuse of marijuana with a weight of 9 kilograms (kg). The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said the perpetrator with the initials N (19) was arrested at Jalan Kelapa Dua Entrop, South Jayapura District, Jayapura City, Papua, Wednesday, July 26, at around 17.58 WIT.

"The perpetrator of drug abuse has the initials N. He is a citizen of PNG (Papua New Guinea) and has his address at Vanimo Village," said Benny in his statement, Friday, July 28.

Meanwhile, the Director of Drug Investigation at the Papua Police, Kombes Alfian, said that the incident began with information received by members of the Operational Sub-Directorate III that there was a Papua New Guinean citizen carrying marijuana.

The perpetrator brought the item using a blue Avanza car with the police number PA 1370 AF from Pasir Dua to Entrop.

On that basis, the police moved quickly to follow the alleged perpetrator. As a result, three Papua New Guinean citizens were found eating.

"When the arrest was about to be made, two of them managed to escape, but one person was caught," he said.

From the arrest, the police confiscated a number of evidences consisting of 132 clear, medium-sized plastic packs, 5 sacks of Rots Rice brands measuring 10 kg, 1 bale of marijuana wrapped in black plastic and clear duct tape, and 3 clear plastics measuring 5 kg containing marijuana.

"From the photos of attached evidence documents, it shows the gross weight of the evidence is estimated to be around 9 kg," he said.

N together with evidence were brought by the office of the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Papua Police, for further action.
