PAPUA - A total of 238 vehicles were ticketed and 1,156 other riders were immediately reprimanded during the Cartenz Compliance Operation held by the Jayapura City Police on 10-23 July 2023

Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Pol Victor D. Mackbon said, of the 1,394 vehicles caught in the operation, the average driver was 26-30 years old.

While the most violations were dominated by 1,212 two-wheeled riders not wearing helmets, followed by 120 motorists fighting the traffic flow.

Victor added that from the operation his party still detained 11 motorbikes. Jayapura City Police suspect the motorbikes are the result of a crime because until now the owner has not taken them.

"The police will investigate who actually owns the motorbike," said Victor in Jayapura, Thursday, July 27, as reported by Antara.

He also said that during Operation Patuh Cartenz there were 32 traffic accidents, of which 14 people were seriously injured, 23 people were lightly injured and two people died, with a total loss of around Rp107,700,000.

Victor hopes that the community, especially two-wheeled and four-wheeled riders, will obey and equip themselves when driving vehicles, including using helmets for two-wheeled riders.

"Obform the signs and equipment when using vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled," said Victor.

The Jayapura City Police include work areas, including the North Jayapura Police, South Jayapura Police, Abepura Police, Heram Police and Muara Tami Police.
