Panji Gumilang Asks For Examination To Be Postponed Next Week

JAKARTA - The head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Panji Gumilang, asked for the schedule for his examination as a witness in the alleged blasphemy case to be postponed until next week.

Originally, Panji Gumilang was scheduled to provide information today. However, he could not attend it on the grounds of illness.

"The attorney for PG asked for the examination to be carried out on Thursday, August 3, 2023," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Thursday, July 27.

In the petition, the Panji Gumilang legal team has also included a doctor's certificate. It contains the health condition of the head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School.

"The person concerned could not be present to be examined as a witness on the grounds that he was sick and was included in the doctor's certificate," said Ramadhan.

For information, Panji Gumilang was originally questioned on July 3. The examination is limited to clarification regarding reports made by several parties.

During the examination, Panji Gumilang was said to have acknowledged all his statements circulating in the form of videos.

One of the videos circulating on social media, Panji Gumilang, said that the Qur'an was an essay by the Prophet Muhammad.
