Police: Terrorists Arrested In Lombok Have Daulah Islamiyah Understanding

JAKARTA - The Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror Team of the National Police arrested two suspected criminal acts of terrorism in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, with the initials UHS alias UL and OS alias O.

Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Pol. Ahmad Ramadhan revealed the roles of the two suspected terrorists.

"The two suspected perpetrators have different involvements," said Ramadhan, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 16.

It was explained that the arrests of the two suspected terrorists on Friday began with the arrest of HSL alias UL in Selong, East Lombok Regency at 20.30 WITA.

Shortly after the first arrest, the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 Team again arrested a suspect with the initials OS alias O at the Lembar Harbor pier, West Lombok Regency.

HSN alias UL, he continued, from 2015 to 2017 he played a role in the recruitment of H (already arrested) to become a member of Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) Bima.

"Brother HSN alias UL understands Daulah Islamiyah," he said.

The suspected terrorist OS alias O is a member of Anshor Daulah, East Lombok, actively participating in meetings or studies at the house of Quran Aik Berik and at the house of the suspect HSN alias UL since August 8, 2022 until now.

"OS alias O is actively discussing Daulah Islamiyah in the conversation of the WhatsApp group for Islamic cafah studies and on his Facebook social media on behalf of Hamzah," said Ramadhan.

In addition, he continued, OS alias O is also active in making posts on social media, one of which is the tutorial on making bombs and homemade firearms.

"In his post, OS alias O posted a video tutorial for making bombs and homemade firearms and had plans to move to Syria," said Ramadhan.

Previously, it was reported that ANTARA, two NTB residents, were arrested by the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 Team.

One of those arrested was a middle-aged woman with the initials HN (60), a vegetable seller in Kampung Baru, Majidi, Selong District, East Lombok Regency.

In early June 2023, the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 Team also arrested a suspected terrorist in the Bima area, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), with the initials MT.

MT was facilitated by suspected terrorist YR to leave for Yemen in 2014 and join the Al Qaeda Branch AQAP organization.
