JAKARTA - The DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has issued an early warning against the potential for heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning, and strong winds during the next week.
The Head of DKI BPBD, Sabdo Kurnianto said, DKI Jakarta is included in the potential impact with an alert status from January 28 to February 2.
"Extreme weather conditions like this can cause puddles, floods, landslides, fallen trees, and slippery roads", said Sabdo in his statement, Thursday, January 28.
Due to the early warning of extreme weather, Sabdo asked the public to be more alert to potential disasters. He appealed to the public to anticipate and prepare everything to protect themselves from the wind.
"We have also appealed to the relevant OPDs, Heads of Subdistricts and Headmen in areas prone to flooding or landslides to anticipate this by alerting the PPSU and the Flood Task Force. People can contact 112 if they need assistance", said Sabdo.
For information, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that 94 percent of the 342 season zones or most parts of Indonesia have entered the rainy season.
The prediction is that the peak of the rainy season will occur in January and February 2021 in parts of southern Sumatra, most of Java including DKI Jakarta, parts of Kalimantan, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, parts of Sulawesi, parts of Maluku, parts of West Papua and parts of southern Papua.
BMKG also issued a high wave alert warning with a height of 1.25 to 2.5 meters occurring in waters north of Banten, waters of the Kepulauan Seribu, West Java Sea, Karawang-Subang Waters, and Indramayu-Cirebon Waters.
