MAKASSAR - An umbrella from the 466 Command Battalion of the Indonesian Air Force (AU) Kopasgat had an accident during parachuting because the parachute used did not develop perfectly in the air. The striker had to land an emergency in a residential area of Maros Regency, South Sulawesi

"The problem with the umbrella that does not develop perfectly and the wind conditions are relatively unstable," said Head of Air Force Department Hasanuddin Air Base Major Sendang Arum Mahardani, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 10.

The incident went viral after residents recorded a video of the victim circling in the air with a parachute not expanding perfectly until it finally fell into a residential area in the Turikale area, Maros Regency. Luckily the victim survived, but allegedly suffered a bone injury to the arm.

After the incident, the victim was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for medical assistance. The victim in the video is seen still conscious.

"Currently, the condition of the paratroopers from Kopasgat is in good condition and stable, although there is a dislocation on the left arm," said Major Sendang.

The parachuting activity was attended by Indonesian Air Force personnel and was a routine exercise for Yonko 466 Kopatgas soldiers.

"The jump activity is a routine activity, as a refreshing of the fall zone (landing location) that has been determined," he said.

"Alhamdulillah, everything has been handled now," he said.
