Attending WIPO In Switzerland, Menkumham Says Indonesia Signs Agreement For Establishment Of Intellectual Property Training Center

JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H Laoly expressed support from the Indonesian government for the promotion of intellectual property on a national to global scale at the 64th World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) event in Geneva, Switzerland.

"Indonesia is fully committed to opening up the potential of talented people, respecting creators and innovators, and providing knowledge for the benefit of the community," Yasonna said, confirmed from Jakarta, Thursday, July 6, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that Indonesia supports the global intellectual property system, one of which is through the accession of Nice Agreement on International Classification of Goods and Services to improve the international standard national brand system.

According to him, international cooperation in the intellectual property sector will provide many benefits.

"International cooperation and partnerships will form a landscape that fosters creativity, embraces diversity, and encourages economic growth," said Yasonna.

During this WIPO session, Indonesia will sign a cooperation agreement with WIPO on the Establishment of the National Intellectual Property Training Center.

"Indonesia and WIPO will cooperate to establish a national KI training center to increase the capacity of KI stakeholders," he said.

In addition, through Indonesia's leadership in ASEAN 2023, Indonesia has brought ASEAN to focus on global economic growth by creating a conducive environment for the community in creating and innovating.

On a national scale, Indonesia itself already has Government Regulation Number 56 of 2022 concerning Communal Intellectual Property.

This regulation plays an important role in preserving and promoting Indonesia's rich cultural heritage while protecting traditional knowledge.

The 64th WIPO General Assembly will take place from 6 to 14 July 2023 and is attended by 156 WIPO member countries. Indonesia is one of 88 countries that delivered national statements in the trial.
