President Jokowi Arrives In Papua New Guinea Welcomed By PM James Marape

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and his entourage arrived at Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and were greeted directly by the Prime Minister (PM) of Papua New Guinea James Marape.

Based on an official statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 5, PM James Marape welcomed the arrival of President Jokowi who had just completed a working visit in Australia on July 3-4, 2023.

PM Marape also introduced welcomeers from the Papua New Guinea delegation, namely Minister of State Event Justin Tkachenko, Governor of the State Capital Powes Parkop, Head of the Secretariat of the Government Department of PM and NEC Offices Ivan Pomaleu, Secretary General of the State Department Elias Wohengu, and Commander of the Armed Forces Major General Mark Goina.

Meanwhile, from the Indonesian side, it appears that they welcome the arrival of the Head of State, namely the Indonesian Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Andriana Supandy and the Indonesian Embassy's Defense Attache Port Moresby Colonel Inf Piter Dwi Ardianto.

After the introduction, the two leaders headed for the honorary stage with a cannon boom to listen to the national anthem.

PM Marape then invited President Jokowi to conduct an inspection of the honorary ranks.

After that, President Jokowi and PM Marape stood on the stage of honor to listen to the national anthem of the two countries.

After undergoing the welcoming ceremony which lasted about 30 minutes, President Joko Widodo then watched the 'Hiri Motu' dance before heading to the car to continue the next activity.
