2 Drug Traffickers In Madiun Sued 4.5 Years In Prison

The public prosecutor asked the panel of judges at the Madiun District Court to give a sentence of 4 years and 6 months each to two members of the National Police in the ranks of the East Java Regional Police who were accused of drug trafficking cases.

The two defendants, namely AiptuParman Budi Santoso who served at the Saradan Police, Madiun Police, and Deddy Sukmawan who served at the Genteng Police, Polrestabes Surabaya.

"Demanding the defendants Parman Budi Santoso and Deddy Sukmawan each with a prison sentence of 4 years and 6 months and a fine of Rp. 800 million each, subsidiary to three months in prison," said Public Prosecutor Ardini when reading the charges reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.

In this case, the Madiun District Attorney's Office said the two defendants were guilty of violating the Narcotics Law. As law enforcement officers, the two defendants should have eradicated the circulation of narcotics, not even distributing the prohibited goods.

After hearing the demands, the Chairman of the Panel of Judges, Rachmawaty, invited the defendant to file a defense through his team of legal advisers from the East Java Regional Police at a trial scheduled for next week.

"The defense from the legal advisor will be our consideration. I hope you don't repeat it again because what you bring is the name of the National Police agency," said Rachmawaty.

Madiun Police officers previously arrested three drug dealers in February and March 2023. They are AiptuParman Budi (member of the Saradan Police, Madiun Police), Deddy Sukmawan (member of the Genteng Police, Surabaya Polrestabes), and a civilian named Subandi.

The case was revealed after members of the Madiun Police arrested a shabu-shabu drug dealer named Subandi in February 2023. From the hands of the Wonoasri District resident, the police secured 11 packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 5 grams.

The results of the examination conducted on Subandi revealed the roles of the two members of the National Police who served in East Java.

Subandi admitted that the drugs were obtained from Aiptu Parman Budi. After being investigated, Aptu Parman admitted that the methamphetamine was obtained from a fellow member of the National Police who served at the Genteng Police, Surabaya City. The methamphetamine was purchased at a price of Rp. 6 million.
