PALU - The Central Sulawesi Regional Police (Central Sulawesi) has named three suspects in the distribution of 15 kilograms of methamphetamine in Tolitoli Regency, which is a syndicate of the Malaysia-Indonesia international network.
"The three perpetrators have been named as suspects after seven days of detention," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Sulawesi Police, Kombes Djoko Wienartono, in Palu, Antara, Tuesday, July 4.
He stated that in the case of the smuggling of 15 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, the police secured four people, namely NJ playing a role in picking up goods in Malaysia by sea, the US acting as a courier from ship to land, NL, a housewife in charge of guarding goods (shabu), and the role of ST being investigated.
"Those who are named as suspects have the initials NJ, AS, and NL, while ST does not fulfill the elements to be made suspects," he said.
The disclosure of the Malaysian-Indonesian international network narcotics syndicate was based on public information.
During the prosecution, the police found evidence of 15 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in a resident's plantation.
Based on the investigation, the perpetrator admitted that he had been smuggling drugs three times since 2022.
"In addition to evidence of methamphetamine, the police secured a two-wheeled vehicle," he said.
He added that the results of the disclosure of narcotics crimes, the Central Sulawesi Police managed to save 75 thousand people from drug abuse.
"The suspect is subject to Article 114 paragraph 2 and Article 112 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The threat of a minimum sentence of six years, a maximum of 20 years or the death penalty," said Djoko.
