6 Bodies Of SAM Air Plane Crashes In Central Mountains Papua Identified At Bhayangkara Hospital

JAYAPURA - Commander of Silas Air Base Papare Marsma TNI M Dadan Gunawan said the bodies of six victims of the SAM Air plane would be identified at Bhayangkara Hospital in Jayapura City, Papua. "The victims from Wamena used the Sriwijaya Air PK-YSN plane to Sentani and were then taken to Bhayangkara Hospital for further identification," he said in Sentani, Antara, Tuesday, June 27. According to him, the six bodies will be identified by the disaster victim identification (DVI) by the Papua Police DVI team. Meanwhile, Director of SAM Air, Deputy Governor Hidayat, said that his party is ready to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies if there is a request to be buried in his hometown. "The passenger victims are from Poik Village, Yalimo Regency and pilots from Nabire and as well as co pilots from Puncak Jaya, so if there is a request from our family we are ready to facilitate,” he said. The Grand Caravan aircraft belonging to PT Semwa Aviasi Mandiri/PK-SMW piloted by Permadi Day and Co Pilot, Levi Murib lost contact after taking off from Elelim Airport to Airstrip Poik, Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains, on Friday (23/6). After searching, the plane was found to have crashed in the Yalimo mountains, precisely 12 KM from Lapter Elelim, Welarek District, Yalimo, Papua Mountains. The plane carrying four passengers, namely, Bartolomeus (34), Ebeth Halerohon (29), Dormina Halerohon (17) and Kilimputni (20) and the entire crew and passengers were found dead by the SAR team.

The evacuation was carried out for three days involving 12 joint personnel from the TNI and SAR Jayapura.
