SURABAYA - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, officially extended the policy of Restricting Community Activities (PPKM).
This is according to the instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs to extend the PPKM from January 26 to February 8, to reduce the COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.
"The central government has decided that the PPKM will be extended for 14 days, from January 26 to February 8, 2021," said Khofifah in her statement, Tuesday, January 26.
In the first phase of PPKM, only 15 districts/cities in East Java implemented PPKM, namely Surabaya City, Sidoarjo Regency, Gresik Regency, Malang City, Batu City, Malang Regency, Madiun City, Madiun Regency, Blitar City, Blitar Regency, Kediri Regency, Magetan, Ponorogo, Trenggalek, Tulungagung.
However, through the Governor of East Java's decision Number 188/34/KPTS/013/2021 regarding the extension of activity restrictions to control the spread of COVID-19. The East Java Provincial Government has added two regions to implement PPKM, namely Tuban Regency and Pamekasan Regency, Madura.

The implementation of PPKM in East Java was extended until February 8, 2021. The reason for the extension of PPKM in East Java was that the decrease in community mobility had not reached 40 percent during PPKM.
