JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that while there were 136 victims of gross human rights violations abroad.

Most of those recorded were exploits of human rights violations during the 1965 '1966 Incident, and the other two were exploits of the May 1998 riots and the Aceh KKA Intersection.

One in Syria, one in England, one in Germany, and two Exils each victim of the May 1998 Riots and victims of the Aceh KKA Intersection Event are in Malaysia.

Mahfud conveyed that two exports abroad, namely one from the Czech Republic and one from Russia are scheduled to come to Aceh to attend the "Kick Off Implementation of the Recommendation of the Non-Judicial Finalization Team for Past Serious Human Rights Violations (PP HAM)" at Geudong House, Pidie, Aceh, on June 27, 2023.

President Joko Widodo is scheduled to directly lead the "Kick Off Implementation of the Recommendation of the PP HAM Team" in Aceh and he will announce various programs to restore the rights of victims of gross human rights violations provided by the government for victims or their heirs/derivatives.

Secretary of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Lt. Gen. Teguh Pudjo Rumekso at the same press conference session said that the number of exports is likely to continue to grow.

"In Aceh myself, I have confidence that it will continue to grow after the implementation of the 'kickoff' because in some cases they have felt that they have only been recorded but there has been no realization. However, I am sure that through this 'kickoff' they will register themselves as victims," said Teguh Pudjo, who also serves as the Chief Executive of the PP HAM Team.

He explained that the search for the victims of gross human rights violations abroad went through a series of stages that were not short because there was a process of tracing, checking, and verifying involving several ministries/agencies, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Komnas HAM, and LPSK.
