Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna asked the local village head to give strict sanctions to the village apparatus with the initials R if proven to have asked for Rp1 million and invite intimate relations to residents with the initials SR.
R's actions damaged the reputation of the village and the Bandung Regency Government.
"I make sure there are no more illegal levies. So, if there are village officials who do something like that, I leave it to the village head to give a warning and if possible, immediately stop if proven to ask for money and others," he said in Soreang, Bandung Regency, Antara, Friday, June 23.
Extortion by officials has damaged the reputation of the government and the village community who have been trying their best to provide population services.
"This act is destructive, while we are trying our best to improve services such as providing self-dukcapil platforms to provide closer services to the community," he said.
Regarding the legal process, Dadang left it entirely to the authorities.
Dadang has also given instructions to the head of the Population and Civil Registry Office, the head of the Village Community Empowerment Service, and the sub-district head to provide maximum service without making levies.
Head of the Population and Civil Registry Office of Bandung Regency, Yudi Abdurrahman, emphasized that all population administration services are free.
"To be known by the public, that all population administration services are free of charge," he said.
He said, as part of a form of service that is oriented towards the community and in an effort to create a clean government, population administration service officers (adminduk) at all these levels are required to provide the best service for the community, be disciplined and uphold service ethics.
"Therefore, the public does not need to comply with the actions of unscrupulous officers who deviate from the applicable provisions, and dare to report them to the authorities," he said.
Previously, a woman with the initials SR was suspected of being a victim of harassment by an individual device from Banyusari Village, Bandung Regency, with the initials R.
SR said that the incident began when he was about to take care of his son's birth certificate, family card, and his cousin's ID card.
Arriving at the Banyusari Village Office, the victim met the perpetrator with the initials R and asked about the costs of dealing with documents. The victim was then notified that the cost of dealing with documents was Rp. 1 million.
After agreeing and a few days later coming to ask about the follow-up to the document management, the perpetrator informed that the nominal value of Rp. 1 million was not enough to take care of the documents.
At that time the perpetrator gave the victim the option that the document could still be taken care of as long as the victim was willing to have sex.
For this reason, SR then reported the incident to the West Java Police Ditreskrimum. The case was then transferred to the Bandung Police Satreskrim with a letter numbered B/3549/VI/RES.7.4/2023/Ditreskrimum.
Kasatreskrim Polresta Bandung Kompol Oliestha Ageng Wicaksana confirmed the delegation and now the police are conducting an investigation process by asking for information from a number of witnesses.
"It is still being investigated, in the stage of examining witnesses," said Oliestha without mentioning the number of witnesses being examined.
