JAKARTA - President Jokowi still buys sacrificial cows from Karanganyar residents who were reported to have canceled purchases because the animals were not included in the criteria.

"Yes, so it was bought by the Presidential Secretariat," said Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) who is also the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono at a press conference within the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Friday, June 23, which was confiscated by Antara.

Previously, it was reported that Sukasno, a resident of Doplang Village, Karangpandan District, Karanganyar, Central Java, admitted that he was offered compensation of Rp. 1 million after the cow was canceled by President Jokowi as a sacrificial animal.

The cancellation, according to Sukasno, was conveyed through a WhatsApp (WA) message from the Presidential Secretariat, so Sukasno also hoped that the Presidential Secretariat would decide to buy his Bima-type cattle. However, he only received a compensation offer of Rp. 1 million because the cow was canceled by President Jokowi.

Sukasno also rejected the offer and he returned the compensation to the Presidential Secretariat. The reason for the cancellation, according to Sukasno, was because the cow had defects in certain parts.

"In the end, there were shortcomings.. but finally it was bought because the President asked for it to be bought, eventually bought," said Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media, Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin on the same occasion.

Heru said President Jokowi would distribute social assistance for sacrificial animals in the form of 38 cows to 39 provinces in the country, including new provinces.

"Yes, this is what the President officially gave to Istiqlal, as last year there was also giving it to other mosques, including what are called religious organizations," said Heru.

Heru also explained that the sacrificial cows given by the President weighed 900-1,200 kg. For this reason, the Presidential Secretariat cooperates with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Religion cq of the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance. Heru ensured that the sacrificial cows handed over by the President were the best cows whose health had been confirmed.
