JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.7 hit West Sumbawa today. This lindu shock was felt up to Mataram.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake was located at 9.49 South Latitude, 116.56 East Longitude.
"The depth of 28 kilometers is felt (MMI) II-III Mataram, II-III West Lombok, II-III Central Lombok," wrote BMKG on its Twitter account, @infoBMKG, Thursday, June 22.
Previously, the M 4.7 earthquake occurred on Thursday, June 22 at around 12:26.05 WIB. In his notes, the BMKG stated that the epicenter was in the sea 88 kilometers southwest of West Sumbawa.
The BMKG reminded residents to be affected by earthquake tremors to stay away from buildings and be aware of further lindu.
"Be careful of aftershocks that may occur," said BMKG.
