SAMARINDA - The East Kalimantan Provincial Government has begun to repair road access to the Palaran Toll Gate in Samarinda City which was damaged.
East Kalimantan Provincial Governor Isran Noor said this work is very strategic considering that the route is an access to a vital national object (obvitnas), namely the Balikpapan-Samarinda (Balsam) Toll Road.
In addition to providing comfort for road users, he continued, repairing the route will be a storefront for Samarinda City.
"This entrance will be a mirror of the face of the capital city of East Kalimantan, Samarinda City," he said in Samarinda, as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 22.
Before there was a repair project, the road to the Palaran Toll Gate used two lanes of access, but only one route was used, namely on the right side of the Palaran Main Stadium.
The lane next to it was damaged and filled with shrubs and is now only a parking bag for tronton trucks and containers.
The governor emphasized that of course not only in Samarinda, infrastructure development, especially roads, has also been and will continue to be carried out on other provincial roads, such as Sebulu, Muara Badak, Muara Jawa, and Samboja, including in the northern area in Sangkulirang, Kaubun, and Talisingian to Tanjung Redeb.
"Meanwhile, for state roads that are the responsibility of the state budget, such as roads to West Kutai, we will go to the central government so that the quality of roads there can continue to be improved," explained the Governor.
Head of the PUPR and East Kalimantan Agency, Aji Muhammad Fitra Firnanda, explained that for the access road project to the Palaran Toll Gate, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government has prepared a budget of Rp. 60.7 billion. With a 5 km long handling target for two lanes.
"The current work is rigid pavement (cor concrete), repair of road median, work on the shoulder of the road and asphalt level (the road is still bumpy). Finally, later we will overlay it with asphalting," he explained.
Nanda, as he is known, explained that the project procurement was carried out in an e-purchasing manner with the source of the 2023 East Kalimantan APBD funds. The handling was carried out starting from the Rifaddin Human Rights Intersection to the Palaran Toll Gate access intersection.
"As of June 15, 2023, from the planned work of 50.54 percent, 61.22 percent has been realized," he said.
For this work, especially the control of trucks that previously parked a lot in the lane, the PUPR Service has coordinated with the East Kalimantan Transportation Service and the Samarinda Police.
"Alhamdulillah, it went smoothly and conducive with our team's internal persuasive approach from the PUPR Service," said Nanda.
