Bawaslu Doesn't Have A Problem With Jokowi's Cawe-cawe

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) stated that it had no problem with the political problems carried out by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as long as it was carried out on a personal behalf, not involving the position of president

"It's not too much of a problem. According to him, we don't really have a problem," said Bawaslu Chairman Rahmat Bagja as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

According to Bagja, these babies are commonplace things for a leader to do in ensuring that his work and vision and mission programs are continued by the next leader.

"If it's a mess, I think it will all be (cheating) if you have a preference, who will continue the work program," said Bagja.

Even so, Bagja reminded that if the 2024 General Election has entered the campaign period, the president is allowed to participate in the campaign as long as it meets the provisions in Article 281 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (Pemilu).

Article 281 of the Election Law regulates that election campaigns that include presidents, vice presidents, ministers, governors, deputy governors, regents, deputy regents, mayors, and deputy mayors must comply with the provisions, namely not using facilities in their positions, except for security facilities for state officials.

Second, the president, vice president, ministers, governors, deputy governors, regents, deputy regents, mayors, and deputy mayors must also undergo leave outside of state dependents.
