Police Name 16 Company Leaders As TIP Suspects

SEMARANG - The Central Java Regional Police have named 16 suspects in a criminal case of trafficking in persons. They are the leaders of a labor service provider company. "The 16 suspects named are company leaders who do not have permits to place migrant workers abroad," said Deputy Chief of Central Java Police Brigadier General Abiyoso Seni Aji when releasing the TIP case in Semarang, Antara, Wednesday, June 21. According to him, these companies do not have permits to place workers abroad, including recruitment permits to be employed on ships. Overall, he continued, the police had revealed 39 TIP cases throughout 2023. Of these, 13 of them are new cases revealed in the last two weeks. He said that of that number of cases, the police had named 46 suspects. One of the last cases revealed, namely those involving the former village head in Magelang as a prospective job recruiter. The former village head with the initials SD (57) is tasked with recruiting to escort prospective workers to Malaysia. From the perpetrator's statement, the delivery of illegal workers to Malaysia has twice been carried out on five people.

To the public, the Deputy Chief of the Central Java Police appealed not to be easily tempted by high salaries to work abroad, but without the right procedure.
