Visit JIIPE Gresik, Jokowi Review Smelter PT Freeport And Toil Factory Tembaga Hailiang

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to review the construction of PT Freeport Indonesia's purification and processing installation (smelter) in the JIIPE industrial area, Gresik, East Java, Tuesday, June 20.

The activity included visiting the copper foil factory PT Hailiang Nova Material Indonesia.

As stated in an official statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi arrived at Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, Tuesday, June 20 afternoon.

The arrival of President Jokowi with First Lady Iriana was welcomed by the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa and a number of high-ranking security forces in East Java.

The President and his entourage then continued their journey to Gresik Regency by car.

In Gresik Regency, the President is scheduled to attend the groundbreaking project for the construction of the PT Hailiang Nova Material Indonesia copper foil plant, which is in the Integrated Industrial Estate or JIIPE Gresik.

In addition, the President will also conduct a review of the PT Freeport Indonesia smelter construction project which is also in the JIIPE Industrial Estate.

After the review, the President and Mrs. Iriana will return to Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo Regency, to leave for Jakarta.

Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as of March 2023, the construction of Freeport's smelter in Gresik has reached 61.5 percent progress.

The progress of the construction of the smelter that has been running includes the construction of a 100 percent stake with a total of 18 thousand piles, 60 percent concrete concentrate, 28 percent steel structure installation, 15 percent steel installation in the tank area, and 98 percent port construction.

A number of ministers also accompanied President Jokowi during this visit to East Java, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
