Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin hopes that the results of the Working Meeting on Decision Making related to the Health Bill can be ratified through the DPR Plenary Meeting in the near future.

"This work meeting can be brought to the next stage, namely the second level of approval at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting. Hopefully we can finish it soon so that it can be implemented and provide immediate benefits for the community," said Budi Gunadi Sadikin after attending a Working Meeting with Commission IX of the DPR as reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 19.

Budi said the Omnibuslaw Health Bill was included in the DPR's priority national legislation program (prolegnas) in February 2023.

On March 7, 2023, the DPR submitted the bill to President Joko Widodo and followed up by appointing the Ministry of Health and related ministries/agencies to compile a list of problem inventory (DIM) from the government on March 9, 2023.

Budi said that the discourse on the emergence of the Health Bill has been widely discussed since the end of 2022. But many consider the process of drafting the bill to tend to be rushed and minimal involvement of civil society.

Responding to public records and criticisms, the Ministry of Health held a "public hearing" and socialization on March 13-31, 2023, involving groups of professional organizations, civil society, and other related groups.

The Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR has been working on a draft of the Health Bill since the end of last year by inviting all stakeholders, including professional organizations.

"If someone is not satisfied, his wish does not come in, I think it is natural in a democratic realm, not all governments want to be 100 percent accepted," he said.

Budi said Baleg had also given the government and the public time to accommodate policy changes.

"It is a natural thing. For us, there will still be decisions that must be taken in accordance with the formal mechanism and if it has been taken we can implement it," he said.

On this day, Commission IX of the House of Representatives held an agenda for the Working Meeting of Decision Making of the Health Bill to be ratified through the DPR Plenary agenda which was approved by seven of the nine factions in Commission IX.

The factions that approved were PDIP, PPP, PAN, Gerindra, Golkar, Nasdem, and PKB. While the rest refused, namely Democrats and PKS.

The working meeting is a level I discussion of decision making against the Health Bill by listening to the opinions of the factions for further decisions to be made.

The next step, Commission IX will ask the leadership to ask the DPR to discuss it at the Deliberative Body (Bamus) to proceed to level II discussions in the form of decision making at the plenary level.

The confirmed Nasdem faction member Irma Suryani stated that the advanced stage in the form of a Plenary Meeting of the Health Bill is scheduled to take place on Tuesday (20/6).

"Plenary meeting tomorrow," he said.
