Landslides In 2 Villages In Cianjur, 5 Houses Are Heavily Damaged

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, noted that two villages in Pagelaran District, were hit by landslides, five houses were heavily damaged and eight families had to be evacuated to a safe place.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur, Rudi Wibowo said heavy rain with an intensity of more than three hours hit Pagelaran District from Monday afternoon to evening, causing landslides to occur in two villages, Situhiang and Bunijaya Village.

"Landsor in Situhiang Village, damaged one house and tens of hectares of agricultural land, while landslides in Bunijaya Village temporarily damaged four houses, most of the homeowners had already fled because they saw natural signs," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 19.

His party has sent officers to the location to collect data related to damage caused by landslides. "We are still waiting for a definite report of damage caused by landslides in two villages in Pagelaran District," he said.

The Head of Pagelaran Sub-district, Denny W Lesmana, said that there were no casualties in the two incidents, but currently eight heads of families consisting of 24 people fled to a safe place because the rain was still falling heavily and it was feared that it could trigger further landslides.

"Currently, joint officers have been dispatched to the location to evacuate residents because it is still raining heavily, it is feared that it will trigger further landslides. Meanwhile, residents whose houses were damaged by landslides are currently evacuating to their relatives' homes," said Deni.

The Pagelaran sub-district head said that his party was still collecting data related to the damage caused by landslides that occurred in the two villages, but his party prioritized the safety of residents because information from dozens of other villages was threatened with landslides.

"We can't be sure yet because the rain is still heavy, so we are still waiting for reports from officers in the field as a result of landslides. However, I ask officers to prioritize the safety of residents, especially those whose houses are threatened," he said.
