JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded that the meeting of political parties ahead of the 2024 General Election will not be colored by a transactional process. Money politics should not occur in closed talks.
"Even if there are (political, red) contracts between them (the figures, ed), of course we urge you to stay away from money politics," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Sunday, June 18.
"The process that occurs in every political decision should be announced openly," Ali continued.
"Stay away from the transactional process that leads to the end when for example getting positions, power, etc. must return the capital and so on," he said.
Ali alluded to a study of his institution which stated that regional heads who were selected from the transactional process tended to be attached to corrupt practices. Because, they will try to return the money paid during the nomination.
"That's what should be avoided from the start," he said.
