Prabowo Will Make Campaign Zone Policy For Gerindra Candidates To Prevent Offended In The Field

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party's Central Leadership Council (DPP) will create a campaign zone for legislative candidates (caleg).

The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said the effort was to prevent fellow party candidates led by Prabowo Subianto from intersecting with each other.

"The Gerindra Party DPP will make a policy, a campaign zone will be created. So, each candidate will get a campaign zone with an adjusted number of polling stations (voting stations)," he said when giving a speech at the event 'Consolidation Akbar of the Gerindra Gerindra Board' at the Kebon Jeruk Stadium Field, Jakarta, Sunday 18 June, was confiscated by Antara. Dasco explained that the existence of the campaign zone shows that the Gerindra DPP ensures that every candidate or legislative candidate has the same opportunity to become a member of the legislature after the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) related to the judicial review of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning the Election which decided that the open proportional electoral system will remain valid in the 2024 elections. In addition, added Dasco, in the campaign zone all legislative candidates from Gerindra will also campaign for Gerindra Chair Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate for the 2024 presidential election. "Prospective candidates can consolidate in their respective campaign zones to campaign for themselves, especially to campaign for presidential candidates (Prabowo) without fear of intersecting with compatriots in the Gerindra Party," he reminded, all Gerindra cadres, especially those in West Jakarta, to fight for Prabowo and Gerindra's victory in the 2024 presidential and legislative elections.

According to Dasco, Gerindra's victory was determined by Prabowo's victory in the 2024 presidential election. "Therefore, this victory must be picked up and fought for. We have to finish. In the end, if Prabowo (became) president, Gerindra won. So, if Prabowo is president, Gerindra will only win. If Prabowo doesn't (be) president, Gerindra doesn't win," he said.

In accordance with the schedule of the General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates from October 19 to November 25, 2023. As stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of election participants who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election of DPR members. Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR. In addition, pairs of candidates can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
