Jokowi Affirms The Importance Of Volunteers For Policy Corrections

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said the support volunteer group has an important role to play in correcting and evaluating the policies it takes, not only as a means of garnering support during the election contestation.

"For policy corrections, for policy evaluation, to improve policies, to provide input on what is happening below to be taken a policy, this is actually important," said President Jokowi at the Galang Sustainability GK Center volunteer event in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 17.

Jokowi said the important role of volunteers is not only about support during elections, but also to provide corrections and evaluations so that each policy can benefit various levels of society.

"The importance of the volunteers here is not only political matters, during regional elections, gubernatorial elections, presidential elections, but on that trip it must also be reminded," he said.

Jokowi admits that he is also only an ordinary human being who is full of shortcomings and mistakes.

"I am an ordinary human being who is full of shortcomings who often make mistakes, but when reminded. Sir, yesterday it was wrong, sir, it can be returned to the right one," said President Jokowi.

The Head of State appreciates the performance of the GK Center volunteers who have guarded him for the last 11 years since he became Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude because the GK Center has been guarding 11 years, starting from when the governor until now," he said.

Jokowi menyampaikan tantangan Indonesia ke depan tidak akan mudah karena situasi global yang semakin tak menentu. Kondisi global yang kian sulit itu tercermin dari tekanan keuangan yang melanda berbagai negara sehingga harus meminta bantuan dari Dana Moneter Internasional (IMF)dan juga krisis pangan yang membuat harga pangan kian melejit.

Therefore, continued Jokowi, Indonesia needs strong leadership. The public is reminded to be very careful in choosing a leader.

"Don't let the situation normal because of our mistake in choosing a leader, so the situation is not normal," said President Jokowi.
