Bali Basarnas conducted a sweep on Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, to search for two foreign nationals (WNA) from India who were swept away.

"We received a report from Wayan Artika that someone saw tourists being swept away and seen from above the position floating around 12.30 WITA," said Bali Basarnas Operations and Alert Head I Wayan Suwena, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.

Suwena explained that Basarnas Bali had just received a report at 13.05 WITA, at that time the eyewitnesses who saw the incident admitted that the two tourists were hit by waves and then floating.

Departing from the report, personnel from the SAR Alert Unit Nusa Penida were mobilized to get off using the Right Inflatable Boat (RIB).

In the evacuation process, Basarnas Bali was also assisted by the Nusa Penida Police, Pos AL Nusa Penida, Koramil Nusa Penida, Pratama Nusa Penida Clinic, and Nusa Penida tour guides.

Finally, at 14.15 WITA, the first victim was found but was dead. He is an Indian foreigner with the initials VML aged 28.

"The first victim we found was male, still wearing a black t-shirt and shorts," said Suwena.

The Joint SAR team then continued the search, but until the afternoon the victim with the initials STV, a 27-year-old woman, had not been found.

Then Basarnas Bali took VML's body to the Gema Santi Hospital, Nusa Penida, using the Pratama Clinic ambulance. While the search will resume on Friday (9/6) tomorrow.
