JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani reminded all legislative candidates from the central, provincial and district/city levels not to present unrealistic political promises in the 2024 General Election.

"I advise prospective members of the DPR RI, provincial DPR, and district/city. Don't spread political promises that are too obral. Gerindra candidates don't use carbon politics. Heavy but difficult promises are fulfilled," said Muzani while attending a political consolidation with DPC and PAC administrators throughout Demak Regency, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 8.

According to him, Gerindra candidates must campaign with realistic promises to keep because the people will be very disappointed if later after being elected, the candidate concerned will not keep his promise.

"Don't make promises, then keep debt. Don't do that because it's very dangerous and it will cause people to be antipathy to political parties. Gerindra candidates can speak and promise any programs but they must be realistic," said Muzani.

He assessed that the promises that were not kept would reduce public trust in political parties.

On the other hand, Muzani explained that the implementation of the 2024 General Election, which is less than eight months, must be able to understand the needs of the people. This is in line with the purpose of establishing the Gerindra Party as a tool for conveying the people's tongue.

Muzani also mentioned the problem in Demak which has not been resolved due to tidal flooding caused by the overflow of high tides.

For that, he asked that there be flood management. "It has been done by a representative from Gerindra in the DPR RI by Pak Wachid," he added.

As a member of the DPR Commission XIII Gerindra faction, Abdul Wachid has conveyed the aspirations of the people of Demak regarding the flood problem to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and BNPB which has agreed to the problem of tidal flooding in Demak immediately addressed by the central government.

"So, problems like this can only be resolved through political channels," said Muzani.

The same thing, he continued, could happen to subsidized fertilizers whose existence is not clearly known, but this condition can still be resolved politically.

"The need for subsidized fertilizer is estimated for one year of IDR 65 trillion. The state is only able to provide it of around IDR 22 trillion to IDR 25 trillion, while the need is IDR 66 trillion to IDR 75 trillion," he said.

Due to the insufficient budget to fulfill domestic subsidized fertilizers, every time fertilizers become a problem.

"How is the settlement? Yes, politics between the executive and the legislature, between the DPR and the president, sit together to discuss solving the fertilizer problem. If the president and his DPR side with the farmers, the problem will be resolved," added Muzani.

He assessed that the experience of Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate (candidate) carried by Gerindra was considered skilled enough to solve the problems faced by farmers.

Prabowo has also served as General Chair of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) for three terms.

"So the matter of fertilizer, the price of unhulled rice, the welfare of farmers is his business. Why was the Gerindra Party established? Because one of them is that we have to be a party that defends small people, defends the people who are weak, underprivileged, farmers, fishermen, laborers, traders. Those weak people who protect are political forces," said Muzani.

He told Prabowo at that time received thousands of reports on the difficulties of farmers. In addition, Prabowo was once the General Chair of the Association of Indonesian Market Traders (APPSI).

"Pak Prabowo feels that defending farmers through HKTI and APPSI is not enough. The hope is that in 2024, Pak Prabowo will be elected as president because the power that Pak Prabowo has will be used is none other than to defend the small people," he concluded.
