JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will discuss issues related to border, protection of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI), and other important issues during his working visit to Malaysia 7-8 June 2023.

"We will use my visit to Malaysia to resolve important negotiations that have been running for years and have not been resolved, namely the issue of border and the issue of protecting Indonesian PMI, and of course other important things," said President Jokowi in a press statement before taking off from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 7.

Jokowi will leave for Malaysia on Wednesday afternoon from Singapore after speaking at Ecosperity Week, Singapore.

In Malaysia, Jokowi will hold a meeting with Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim and Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah.

Jokowi's visit to Malaysia was also a return visit from the arrival of PM Anwar Ibrahim to the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Indonesia on January 9, 2023. Indonesia was the first country that Anwar Ibrahim visited after he was appointed Prime Minister of Malaysia in November 2022.

The meeting between President Jokowi and PM Anwar in January 2023 discussed many things, including downstreaming and economic digitization, as well as the development of the capital city of Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

During this short working visit, Jokowi will depart from Malaysia and arrive in Indonesia on Thursday (8/6) night.
