SOLO - The Solo City Government, Central Java, continues to monitor the price of chicken eggs even though it has begun to decline in recent times.
The head of the Solo City Trade Office, Heru Sunardi, said that currently the price of chicken eggs in a number of traditional markets has reached Rp. 28,000/kg or decreased from the previous Rp. 30,000/kg.
"The decline has occurred since a few days ago, precisely before the holiday at the end of this event," he said in Solo, Antara, Sunday, June 4.
Even though it has dropped, the price is not yet normal, which is in the price range of Rp. 26,000/kg. According to him, the increase in the price of chicken eggs occurred due to two things, namely the price of animal feed such as corn and the price of chicken seeds.
"If these two things can go down, the price of chicken eggs should also return to normal," he said.
However, he said, the Surakarta City Trade Office was unable to reach the price of feed commodities or the price of chicken seeds.
"So far, the important thing is that we ensure that the stock exists, the chicken egg commodity is not rare," he said.
Previously, the Central Java People's Budget Association (Pinsar) said the increase in the price of chicken eggs was triggered by a number of factors, one of which was the reduction in the population of laying hens.
Central Java Pinsar chairman Parjuni said the rejuvenation of chicken mothers was delayed because last year the farmers suffered losses. In fact, according to him, the loss has occurred since 2021.
"So that even though at the end of 2022 it will be profitable, farmers are not ready to rejuvenate their parent," he said.
As a result of this condition, he said, it affects the decrease in the number of eggs produced by chicken mothers.
Another factor, according to him, is the increase in the price of animal feed, namely corn commodities. He said that previously the price of corn at around Rp. 4,000/kg had begun to creep up to around Rp. 6,000/kg.
He said this condition had an impact on the cost of goods sold (HPP) at the farmer level. As a result, farmers must sell eggs above the price of IDR 25,000/kg.
